Just a little something for those who use Ableton, could be applied to Massive and others. ( It's not perfect but it's a start )
Hit up an Operator and set the first oscillator to either Saw or Square wave. ( Saw would be more for mid, where as square gives you more of a thud for bass. )
You're going to be using all 4 oscillators so assign the first as above and the third. ( A and C oscillator, leave B and D as Sine for some atmosphere )
Then just tinker with the volumes and Octaves until you got a nice dirty sound. ( also mess with the fine and other dial too )
Now for the Wobbles, Turn on the LFO and the Filter.
Set filter to Low SVF as it gives a certain more digital dirt effect to it.
Now assign the LFO to the Filter ONLY! ( Unless you are good at assigning each oscillator, sometimes it sounds epic )
It's all about your own taste but usually I have the LFO rate going between 30% and 70%, otherwise it sounds like a DnB basslines or it's completely ruining the tone/key of the riff.
You should now have a fairly disgusting bassline coming out, but here are a few more things to add:
Redux a.k.a. Bitcrusher -
You want that mad YOOYYYEEEE!! eh!? then this is for you!
Set it generally low, maybe between 8-21 and add some bit distortion and you're sorted.
Saturator -
If compression isn't doing it for you, smack that in with a medium curve and you got some more definition to the key hits.
Reverb-
"Could do with a little reverb.." always something that's happening in the genre no?
Ping Pong Delay -
Set it quite low but it gives it more space to dirty up and make the masses spill their guts out after a good headbanging.
That's generally about it, of course there are many more ways to make it and change it around but that's a quick way I go at times.
Hope this helps!
